The InTown Macon Neighborhood Association exists to preserve, protect, and enhance the beauty, integrity, and safety of the Macon, Georgia (USA) historic residential area.
Founded in 1974, the InTown Macon Neighborhood Association works to protect and improve the quality of life for residents. We offer many social activities for our members, but we also work to preserve and enhance the historic residential character of our neighborhood. Through our Historic Development Committee, we advocate appropriate and sensitive development in our district and its surroundings.
We truly believe we live in the best part of Macon. Our buildings are not just precious historic resources with interesting architectural details, high ceilings, plaster mouldings, stained glass, and fine wood floors. These buildings have housed, entertained, and educated generations of Maconites. They have witnessed cultural, political, and religious activities that shaped this city. As residents, we consider ourselves stewards of a valuable legacy.
This year, we've completed a project to design and install new lamppost banners throughout our neighborhood. These banners (like the logo in the upper left of this page) immediately identify InTown to tourists and residents alike. We thank the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Knight Foundation, and the Community Foundation of Central Georgia for their generous support of this project and the Macon-Bibb Fire Department and the City of Macon for installing the banners.
